The Benefits of Being A WAHM

It's not hard to point out the benefits of being a WAHM because there are multiple reasons that often outweigh the negatives. The joy is being there 24/7 for your family, but mainly for your children.

Remember all the times your kid called from school because they forgot their lunch, stepped in a muddy puddle and needed a new pair of socks and shoes, or forgot their math book at home? It was always Mom to the rescue.

Being a WAHM also allows you to spend quality time with younger kids and help older kids with their homework, volunteer at the school, attend field trips, etc. Working outside the home can be totally exhausting and coming home to cook, clean, and then find time to spend with your family can be daunting. On top of that, you also need downtime and to prepare for the next day.

The other benefits of being a WAHM are not solely focused on the family. Think of the price of gas, car maintenance or transit fare, work clothes and all the things associated with working out of the home. $5-$10 lunches or $5 Starbuck coffees daily can be huge money guzzlers, and don't forget those lunch-time strolls to the mall. You can easily save over $200 per month working at home!

Working at home allows you to be your own boss, working at your own pace and working on a schedule suitable to the needs of your family. If you're sick, your co-workers aren't taking the extra work and if your child is sick at least you're home to comfort them. You can take care of any emergency that arises, and you have the ability to leave at any time without having to explain yourself to your superior.

Many are choosing to be a WAHM for the benefits stated above, and many are finding it's financially more affordable for the Mom to stay home due to the rising costs of daycare. These are great reasons you should become a WAHM, because a happy family is a healthy family.

To your success,

  1. Angie, you are so right, the benefits are so many that it is hard to list all of them. WAHM's do have a challenge when choosing to work from home.Finding the right fit that actually makes money is tough. We all know how many scams there are out there. Finding something that truly is using your God given strengths and talents is the place we should all start on our journey to working at home.

  2. Some moms work from home out of necessity. In today’s economy, downsizing is the name of the game, and many mothers have found themselves with pink slips. In a tight job market, what’s a parent to do? For those parents, working at home might have started out as a bridge between jobs, but soon turned into a full-time position, one that they enjoy more than they thought they would.

  3. Lol I was always the tall one, till just recently. I'm 5'4 or 5'5 (the doctors have confused me) I thought I was sassy (read above). I was quite jealous of short girls because all the guys I liked, liked them. I wanted to bes short sooo bad. But I realize it's just an ego thing, and since grades 7-12 don't count it really pisses me off that I spent even a sec being insecure because of those dweebs. Now my 13 year old sister towers over me, and I realize I'm quite short.

I didn't like shorter guys before and still kinda don't...makes me feel like a giant and I must mention weight seems to add stature too. I don't know how, I'm the same height, loss the weight and now I feel like a midget...makes no sense.

I think girls care about weight more than guys do. We agonize over things we can't change about ourselves till we meet a guy that makes us love the few imperfections. I say leave yourself open to the possibilities, who knows what height the person who teaches you how to love will be. Now I want to be taller, see life's full of mysteries....lol Rediff
